The Paper Chasers

The Paper Chasers (Nextwave Films) is a documentary about the upstarts and entrepreneurs of the hip hop nation. Not much to brag about in that area. What did catch my interest is how the people making the movie also become one of it's main subjects. Maxie Collier had a vision in mind a vision which put him on the same first rung that all of the people he interviews in the film where on at some point in their early career's. You are not just expected to take the word of the heads of Ruff Ryders, Roc-a-fella and Rap A Lot that everybody stands in the crap but you actually get to see it right down to the a long term friendship being forgone in order to complete Maxie's dream. Many of the interviews are guerilla style and so they come off very believable. Worth a bit of your time especially if you can catch it on IFC.
